Terrific Travis wetlands

Hello and welcome back to my blog,

This week on Monday a few of my classmates and I went to the Travis wetlands to learn about the animals that live there and also about our environment and how to care for it.

While we were there we learnt that Travis wetlands is like 6 main things, a sponge, an airport, a bed and breakfast, a nest, a carbon sink and lastly a sieve.

Travis wetlands can act like a sponge because depending on the season the water can rise or go down, for example when its winter because of all the rain the water levels rise and when its summer the ground sucks up a lot of the water to make the water level lower.

Travis wetlands can also act like an airport because it is a place where the birds can come and go to rest and eat food.

Travis wetlands is like a bed and breakfast because it holds lots of yummy food for all the birds such as, small insects, plants and much more.

Travis wetlands is a nursery because its a safe place for birds to grow up with places to sleep, eat and keep safe.

Travis wetlands acts like a carbon sink because when the water comes into the wetlands from the ocean the plants and ground sokes up all the bad carbon and other stuff from the water and it holds it so then when it goes back into the ocean all that water is really clean.

And lastly Travis wetlands is like a sieve because it can filter the dirty water, making it clean.

A few of the activities we did was learning about food chains, bird watching and catching bugs, snails and other insects from the water and then learning about them.

Out of all the things we did that day my favorite was catching the insects from the water with this big sieve on a stick, me and friends caught a snail and named it Fredric which was very fun.

have you ever been to the Travis wetlands?

Crazy Climate change

Hello and welcome to my blog,

This week we have been learning about something called laudato si, which is a letter from Pope Francis telling everyone to care for our common home.

These past few decades we have over been consuming and are taking way more than our fair share and this is causing our world to both look and feel filthy leaving all our waters, air, forests and much more to ruined and unsafe. So if we want to make a change we need to do it now and quickly before we don´t even have one.

The Algae Avenger

Hello and welcome to my blog,

This week we have been focusing on bodies of water like rivers, lakes and ocean, and so for our create we had to come up with a superhero who has something to do with what we are learning about.

During reading I learned that not all rivers of lakes are safe to swim in due to pollution, algae and bacteria from animal poop.

Here is my create

What would your superhero be called?

Fabulous Food webs

Hello and welcome back to my blog,

Over the past term we have been learning about habitats and food webs during PBL, If you don’t know what a food web is it’s basically what animals feed on and what they are eaten by.

During PBL I have learned that there are three main categories: Decomposer, Producer and  Consumer.

For our create this week we had to make a food web showing what animals eat and what they are eaten by.

Here is my create:

What do you know about food webs?

Marine Habitats

Hello welcome back to my blog,

This week we have been looking at Marine Habitats and threats to them. During this I have learnt that there are many different types of habitats in the ocean and that sediments is something that makes the water murky, this is bad because animals in the water cant find prey causing animals to die.

Here is my DLO:
