Hello and welcome back to my blog,
This week on Monday a few of my classmates and I went to the Travis wetlands to learn about the animals that live there and also about our environment and how to care for it.
While we were there we learnt that Travis wetlands is like 6 main things, a sponge, an airport, a bed and breakfast, a nest, a carbon sink and lastly a sieve.
Travis wetlands can act like a sponge because depending on the season the water can rise or go down, for example when its winter because of all the rain the water levels rise and when its summer the ground sucks up a lot of the water to make the water level lower.
Travis wetlands can also act like an airport because it is a place where the birds can come and go to rest and eat food.
Travis wetlands is like a bed and breakfast because it holds lots of yummy food for all the birds such as, small insects, plants and much more.
Travis wetlands is a nursery because its a safe place for birds to grow up with places to sleep, eat and keep safe.
Travis wetlands acts like a carbon sink because when the water comes into the wetlands from the ocean the plants and ground sokes up all the bad carbon and other stuff from the water and it holds it so then when it goes back into the ocean all that water is really clean.
And lastly Travis wetlands is like a sieve because it can filter the dirty water, making it clean.
A few of the activities we did was learning about food chains, bird watching and catching bugs, snails and other insects from the water and then learning about them.
Out of all the things we did that day my favorite was catching the insects from the water with this big sieve on a stick, me and friends caught a snail and named it Fredric which was very fun.

have you ever been to the Travis wetlands?
