This week we have been looking at Marine Habitats and threats to them. During this I have learnt that there are many different types of habitats in the ocean and that sediments is something that makes the water murky, this is bad because animals in the water cant find prey causing animals to die.

This week in R.E we have been learning about motivational messages for those less fortunate than us, so for our create task we were asked to crete one of our own in a choice of working with a buddy or alone, I chose to work with a buddy. This term we have been focusing on creating our own worlds using paper mache, minecraft, a map and a 3D model, I chose to do a 3D model of an island because I love the water.

To prepare for making our worlds we learnt about soil, water, rocks/minerals, life forms, air and much more. Once we had learnt about all that we had to file out a doc about details for our worlds we also had to create a name for our new worlds so since I was making an island I decide to call my island Atlanta island.

This week for reading we learnt about reading between the lines and to help with that we read a book called MeMe and me the point of this was to tell the reader the pro’s and con’s of having a phone while reading between the lines, the book that we read was about MeMe which was just someone this girl called Nina made up after she got a phone, this book was to show how having a phone can create an addiction which can effect you by not being able to stay away from your phone

Here is my learning goal: Independently predict, interpret and analyse text, ‘reading between the lines’ to gain a deeper meaning.

For our reading create this week we made a list of Pro’s and Con’s of having a phone using quotes from the book we read.

Welcome back to my blog, this week we have been learning about the environment and to go along with that for reading we have been learning about different types of rocks and what they are used for.

This week my learning goal is: make connections between other texts and general knowledge to expand meaning and pose questions, using more sophisticated texts.

For our reading, we had to write at least a small paragraph about 5 different types of rocks using a website called Geology Rocks we also had to write 4 questions about rocks for a buddy to answer.

This week in writing we had a writing task broad with five options to chose from from the five options there was Show not tell, A letter to your future self, a story with 100 or less words, A paragraph of a topic of your choice and lastly a piece of writing about your hobbies.

Out of all these options we had to choose three, I chose the letter to your future self, a debate about having a shorter week and lastly Show not tell, which is the one I am blogging about now.

My Learning Goal for the ¨show not tell¨ was: Use “show not tell” when appropriate.

During this I learnt that show not tell is something that is used instead of telling the reader the exact words.

Here are some of my learning goals for maths,

Patterns are sequences (repeating or growing) made of numeric or spatial elements governed by a rule.

The same pattern structure can be found in many different forms

A pattern can be described using a rule or you can create a pattern from a rule.

To find the rule for a pattern, you need to identify the unit of the pattern.

This term we have been learning about algebra and how we can use rules to find patterns, so for our maths create last week we were asked to make a growing pattern using different types of shapes, I chose a star.

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions on Peace’. Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Here are some of the symbols we learnt about, Peace hand, Peace dove, a white poppy, an olive branch and lastly the victory sign.

These symbols represent peace. For example the victory sign means peace because it was initially used to signal victory by Allied nations during World War II.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer here.

I enjoyed learning about peace because it taught me a lot about some great people who showed peace, I also learnt a lot of new peace symbols and ways they used peace symbols to symbolise things.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by helping others and always showing peace.
